Free credits, cloud, ads & tools for an AI startup
Working evaluation of startup benefit programs available to a self-funded, soon-to-be-incorporated AI startup operating in the US and Poland. Each entry is formatted to drop straight into the intranet task list once we pick the ones to apply for.
Each program below has a Task spec block. Once we agree which to apply for, paste the spec into the intranet tasks app as a task under project Funding & Benefits. Tier S items are the recommended first batch.
Our profile (the lens)
Most programs gate on three things โ keep these visible when applying:
Imminent. Likely Delaware C-Corp + Polish Sp. z o.o.
Most programs accept either entity; some need a domain email + website.
AI workload
OpenAI / image-gen. Likely via Azure OpenAI, possibly Bedrock or direct API.
Microsoft Founders Hub is the strongest fit โ Azure OpenAI access + GPT/DALL-E credits.
Geography
US ops + Poland ops
Stack global programs (MS, NVIDIA, AWS) on top of Poland-only ones (PARP, Campus Warsaw, NCBR).
Team size
< 10, pre-launch
Qualifies us for almost every "early-stage" tier; a few cap at < 5 yrs old / < $X revenue.
Recommended first batch
Apply this week โ high value, no funding required, all stackable
Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub โ up to $150K Azure incl. Azure OpenAI (GPT, DALL-E, embeddings). Self-attest, no VC. This is the headline win for image gen.
Up to $150K Azure credits over 4 stages, Azure OpenAI access (GPT-4/4o, DALL-E 3, embeddings, Whisper), GitHub Enterprise, Visual Studio, LinkedIn Premium, 1:1 mentor hours, Microsoft 365.
Eligibility
Self-attestation. Pre-revenue OK. Must be building a software product. Not a previous Hub member.
Effort
~30 min application. Approval in days. Stage-2/3/4 unlocks require attesting to milestones (MVP, customers, traction).
Our fit
Strongest single fit. Direct path to OpenAI-family models for image gen and chat. Stackable with NVIDIA Inception. Does not block AWS or GCP applications.
title: Apply to Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub project: Funding & Benefits priority: high labels: credits, ai, cloud due: within 1 week of incorporation (need entity name + domain email)
$1K AWS credits + $350 AWS Support + Business Builder. Higher tiers ($5K โ $100K) require an Activate Provider (VC, accelerator, incubator).
Eligibility
Self-funded OK for Founders tier. < 10 years old, < $100M revenue, never had Activate credits before.
Effort
~15 min, instant decision. Reapply for the Portfolio tier ($100K) once on an accelerator or with a partner VC.
Our fit
Take the $1K now even though we're Azure-leaning โ Bedrock has Anthropic models we'll likely want, and S3 + Cognito are standard. Don't burn the application; Founders โ Portfolio is a one-shot upgrade path.
title: Apply to AWS Activate Founders ($1K) project: Funding & Benefits priority: medium labels: credits, cloud due: after incorporation; flag a follow-up to upgrade once VC-backed
Entry: $2K GCP credits + technical training. Start tier (early-stage, < $500K funding): up to $25K. Scale tier (VC-backed): up to $200K, plus $200K extra in the AI-focused track.
Eligibility
Entry: self-attested. Higher tiers need a partner referral (VC, accelerator, Google for Startups Campus).
Effort
~20 min for entry tier. Higher tiers require a referral letter.
Our fit
Take the entry tier now. The Campus Warsaw membership (separate program below) acts as a partner referral that unlocks the higher tier without VC โ strong combo for our Poland leg.
title: Apply to Google for Startups Cloud Program (entry tier) project: Funding & Benefits priority: medium labels: credits, cloud due: after Campus Warsaw membership confirmed (so we can route through them)
Delaware C-Corp incorporation for $500, plus a perks bundle: $50K AWS credits, Notion ($1K+), Intercom, Mercury/Stripe Treasury, Carta, Atlassian, AngelList, partner law/tax firms.
Eligibility
You haven't incorporated yet. Pre-launch fine.
Effort
~1 hour to file; weeks for full Delaware formation + EIN.
Our fit
Hits a deadline window. The AWS perk inside Atlas is the cleanest path to $50K AWS without an accelerator. If we're going Delaware C-Corp, this stacks the bundle inside the same form. Decide before we file by another route.
title: Decide: incorporate via Stripe Atlas vs. own counsel project: Incorporation priority: critical labels: credits, legal due: before any other incorporation work starts
Full-time, multi-month fellowship: funding, mentorship, and a global network of researchers, builders, and institutions. Fellows may join the Human-Centered AI Lab at Oxford, work directly with Cosmos mentors, or pursue independent projects across disciplines. A separate Senior Research Fellowship (2โ7 yrs, by nomination only) provides multi-year unrestricted funding for paradigm-shifting work at the intersection of technology and human flourishing.
Eligibility
Emerging technologists who pair deep philosophical insight with advanced AI understanding. Open application for the standard Fellowship; Senior Research Fellowship is nomination-only.
Effort
Application essay + project description; competitive. Senior tier requires a nominator from the Cosmos network.
Our fit
Strong philosophical-AI angle aligns with the Sponic Gardens narrative (AI-native physical spaces, human flourishing). Best routed via a founder personally โ the fellowship attaches to a person, not the company. Worth pursuing as a credibility + network play even if the funding is modest relative to credits programs.
title: Apply to Cosmos Fellowship (Cosmos Institute) project: Funding & Benefits priority: medium labels: fellowship, ai, philosophy, network due: next open call; identify a potential nominator for the Senior tier in parallel
Claude API credits (typically $5K โ $25K) and priority access. Distributed via partners โ AWS Bedrock, Menlo Ventures, accelerators.
Eligibility
Need a partner channel today. Direct application is limited.
Effort
Indirect โ go through AWS Activate (Bedrock credits cover Claude) or wait for accelerator/VC referral.
Our fit
If we're using Azure OpenAI for image gen, use Bedrock for Claude. Don't burn cycles applying directly; comes free with Activate.
title: Route Claude usage through AWS Bedrock to capture Anthropic credits project: Funding & Benefits priority: low labels: credits, ai due: when Claude usage exceeds direct-API free credit
Free Pro tier, Inference Endpoints credits, Spaces upgrades, model hosting.
Eligibility
Early-stage, building with open-source models. Self-attestation.
Effort
~10 min. Approval ~1 week.
Our fit
Apply if/when we're hosting open-weight models. Skip until we have a concrete need.
title: Apply to Hugging Face for Startups (when open-weights enter the stack) project: Funding & Benefits priority: low labels: credits, ai due: conditional
Up to $250K credits across Workers, R2, D1, Pages, Stream โ gated to VC/accelerator referral.
Eligibility
Need a partner. Free tier covers a lot in the meantime.
Our fit
High value (we already use Cloudflare Pages + Workers + R2 in the existing repo). Apply the moment we close a partner who's on the program list.
title: Apply to Cloudflare for Startups via partner project: Funding & Benefits priority: medium labels: credits, cloud due: upon first VC/accelerator close
Banking + access to Raise community + perks bundle (similar to Brex). Mercury Raise also runs investor-intro events.
Eligibility
US C-Corp / LLC.
Our fit
Strong founder-community signal. Decide Brex vs Mercury based on which perks marketplace currently lists the credits we need (rotates).
title: Compare current Brex vs Mercury perks marketplaces, pick one as primary project: Banking & Ops priority: high labels: banking, credits due: at incorporation
Apply only if/when we need Intercom's product (in-app messaging, AI agent over docs).
Tier D โ Ads & marketing credits
None of the major ad platforms run formal "startup programs" with five-figure credits. Instead, they offer spend-match promo codes for new advertiser accounts. Stack them per platform.
title: Stand up new advertiser accounts on each platform to bank the new-account promo credits (don't activate until campaigns are ready) project: Funding & Benefits priority: low labels: ads, marketing due: at first GTM push
Tier PL โ Poland-only programs
The shape of the Polish stack
Poland offers grants (non-dilutive, government / EU money) more aggressively than US accelerators offer credits. The trade is paperwork โ most require Polish-language filings, an Sp. z o.o., and a Polish bank account. See Polish business setup notes for the entity prerequisites.
Free coworking, mentor hours, founder community, programming tracks (Residency, Accelerator). Acts as a referral channel for the higher GCP credit tiers.
Eligibility
Polish-registered or US-registered with Polish operations. Free membership.
Our fit
Best Poland on-ramp. Membership unlocks Google's higher cloud tier without VC backing.
title: Sign up Campus Warsaw membership project: Poland Setup priority: high labels: poland, community, credits due: within 2 weeks of Sp. z o.o. registration
Up to PLN 250K (~$60K) non-dilutive grant for foreign founders incorporating an Sp. z o.o. and running their startup from Poland. Run via accredited acceleration operators.
Eligibility
Foreign founders relocating to Poland. Must enter via an operator; calls run in batches.
Effort
Application via an operator; ~6โ12 weeks selection.
Our fit
Probably the single biggest non-dilutive lever. Aligned with our Polish ops plan.
title: Identify Poland Prize operator + apply project: Poland Setup priority: high labels: poland, grant due: as soon as Sp. z o.o. is in formation; check open call windows
MS Founders Hub, AWS Activate, and the GCP Cloud Program are one-time-per-company. If we apply with a placeholder entity or before we know our cloud strategy, we lose the upgrade path. Decide cloud architecture before pulling the trigger on the first application of each.
The evaluation task
The single meta-task to drop into the intranet first:
title: Evaluate startup benefit programs and pick our application set project: Funding & Benefits priority: high labels: credits, planning description: Walk through /docs/startupbeni.html. For each program, mark Apply / Defer / Skip in the doc. Resolve the cloud-architecture question (Azure vs AWS vs GCP primary) before pulling the trigger on any one-shot application (MS Founders Hub, AWS Activate, GCP Cloud Program). Output: a short ranked list of the actual programs we'll apply to, with owner + due date for each. Spawn one child task per program from the Task spec blocks. checklist: [ ] Decide primary cloud (drives MS / AWS / GCP order) [ ] Decide incorporation route (Stripe Atlas vs own counsel) [ ] Confirm Polish operating timeline [ ] Pick Brex vs Mercury [ ] Spawn child tasks for each "Apply" program
Open questions
Which cloud is our primary? Image-gen via Azure OpenAI suggests Azure; Bedrock-Anthropic suggests AWS; Polish data residency suggests GCP Warsaw region. We can run multi-cloud but the primary choice determines which one-shot application we burn first.
Are we joining a US accelerator (YC / Techstars / Antler / a16z Speedrun)? That decision unlocks the partner-gated tiers (Cloudflare for Startups, GCP Scale, HubSpot, Datadog) and is worth resolving before chasing those individually.
Polish entity timing โ when does the Sp. z o.o. file? Poland Prize operator calls run in batches, so this drives application windows.
